Tropical Takes and King Cakes…

Much like my January had been, my schedule throughout February 2025 remains packed and busy, and I have been going non-stop with my full-time job, my new weekly radio show on MarkSkinRadio.com, planning both national and international travel within the next couple of weeks and months (!!!), and attending parties and get-togethers with my friends and family that celebrate milestones and markers or are just a way to get through the Winter with some great food and laughs.

And that’s not when I’m digging myself out of the snow on a regular basis! We’ve got another storm heading our way tonight, and I think we’ve officially run out of places to put everything that gets scooped up by shovels and plows!

Of course, I am still finding time to pause and take a breath now and then. Last Friday, for example – Dan and I had headed out to Williamsburg to check out a chocolate shop I’m going to be writing about at the end of this week as it is the perfect location to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Afterwards, we made our way over to Gigantic in Easthampton to kick off their annual “Escape The Northeast” tiki/tropical event – and they went as over-the-top as ever with their dΓ©cor and menu!

I love how the staff has such an eye for detail, and that it looks different – but kind of the same – every time they put together the event. There’s always something new to look at and something fresh to try with their limited edition cocktail offerings. Dan and I each had a drink while we watched ‘Batman Forever’ on their new little bar-top TV – and it was delightful!

On Saturday morning, I was up bright and early to visit the Wells Provisions pop-up in Charlemont, where I had pre-ordered a King Cake for Mardi Gras and found a seat (the place was packed – so it was nothing short of a miracle!) to enjoy breakfast and a hot chai. It was so good seeing everyone there. I always love when they open for an occasional brunch or dinner event!

And the King Cake? Phenomenal as always! They make them so perfectly!

On Sunday, after cleaning up after yet another snowstorm – I headed out to my mom’s for a more quiet Super Bowl Sunday with her and Oliver, who greatly enjoyed the Puppy Bowl this year. We enjoyed a lot of pizza, wings, and some of the aforementioned King Cake – and both Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show and the Eagles win was amazing to watch. We had such a good time!

But now, it’s time to ride out the rest of my work week and get ready for Valentine’s Day!

See you all on Friday!
