To say it’s been an interesting and busy couple of weeks leading up to now is an understatement – especially since I’m only just getting around to looking through photos now! So many things have been happening all at once, and I believe may be winding down by the end of this week (thankfully before next week’s holiday!) so I’m looking forward to actually being able to stop and catch my breath for a moment.
I had mentioned that Troy was visiting a couple of weeks ago and had been here for his birthday. That week was also his mother’s birthday, and while he went to go visit her for a proper celebration, I headed to Boston with Dan to catch the Bruins/Calgary Flames game at TD Garden since my job had surprised me with tickets for the night. Our seats were amazing, right next to the ice, and the night was even more incredible when the Bruins won with twenty seconds left on the clock during an overtime shoot-out. It was so unbelievably cool, and I’m so thankful my office gave me a hook up!
Before Troy left, we’d also made it a point to stop by MASS MoCA (his favorite museum!) to see a fairly newer and outdoor James Turrell exhibit, as well as some new installations from Osman Khan, Steve Lock and Amy Podmore. It was nice to see some different stuff while walking around during this most recent visit – and one of my favorite exhibits was the Anselm Kiefer gallery in Building 15. It’s definitely worth the brief and brisk walk from the main building of the museum!
But perhaps one of the biggest things to happen in the past few days, and something I had been considering near the end of October, is that I’m buying a new car this week! After a series of issues with my current car’s starter and what I thought was the exhaust – I had it properly appraised to try and figure out exactly what was going on. It turns out that a large chunk of loose concrete I had struck in the roadway while traveling through a construction zone a few weeks ago wreaked absolute havoc on my car’s undercarriage – essentially crushing it in – and it was declared a total loss last week.
And so begins the process of obtaining my belongings from my current car, bidding it a fond farewell, and going through the motions at a dealership for a new set of wheels – and I think I’ve found the brand new ride I want (pending a peek inside and maybe a test drive!) so I’m both nervous and excited. If all goes according to plan – I’ll be sharing some photos of it soon!
I’ll also be sharing a new “Local Loves” installment later on this week, along with some more holiday-inspired and festive posts leading into Thanksgiving! It’s the season, after all!
