Happy (Almost!) Halloween, everyone! Before I get ready to stock up on some extra candy for Trick-or-Treaters and plan what horror movies I’m going to watch to close out the month tomorrow night, I wanted to take a fond look back at October – and all the spooky and not-so-spooky adventures that came with it before it’s time to prepare for the impending holiday season and colder temperatures that come with November’s arrival!
But I’m so not ready to say goodbye to this month just yet. It’s my absolute favorite!
I had kicked off October with a recap of my long weekend in Maryland with Andrew and the kids where we attended what will likely be our last outdoor music festival of 2024 and spent a really great day on the boardwalk riding carnival attractions and eating all the seaside snacks we could. After I returned to New England, I gradually shifted into “Halloween Queen” mode by sharing my seasonal makeup collection and my new favorite sweater for this time of year.
I was thrilled that Troy was here to accompany me to Naumkeag in Stockbridge to check out their annual Pumpkin Show for the very first time, and the next day it was all about a Halloween & horror-themed get-together with my girlfriends in Hubbardston where we had a bonfire, played pool, and participated in some highly competitive scary movie trivia. Some of you may recall that I’d made a ton of skull-shaped brownies and cakes for the occasion!
October was still peak-Hurricane season, and I shared ways to help those affected by the recent Helene and Milton storms – the latter of which my brother and his family were thankfully safe and unharmed from!
In keeping up with all things haunted and eerie for the season, I shared some historic headstones in and around the areas where I grew up and the stories behind them before I headed out to New York to visit one of the most beautiful cafés I’ve ever seen and take in the foliage in all it’s bright and gorgeous glory.
And now Halloween is pretty much here! So what do I have planned after I wrap up my scary movie marathon and eat any leftover Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups tomorrow night? Well, I’ll be shifting into Thanksgiving/Christmas mode, attempting to get my decorating and the bulk of my gift shopping done early, and planning some local travel around New England to highlight more seasonal celebrations.
I also might be getting a new car – since my recent round of repairs didn’t solve the ongoing issues the way I thought they would – so that’ll be an exciting new chapter to embark on before the end of the year!
A little later on this week, I’ve got one more installment of spooky, scary goodness to share – but before that – here’s wishing you all a truly fun and safe Halloween!
And to wishing you all a wonderful and whimsical November ahead, too!
