Despite the fact that temperatures continue to reach the high 70s/low 80s each afternoon and I am still very much wearing shorts and sandals throughout the day since returning home to New England, that hasn’t stopped me from beginning to unpack my Autumnal and Halloween décor, including some new additions I’d picked up as recently as last week (and even earlier this week while out buying apple cider doughnuts!)
While I was in Orange County at the beginning of the month, Troy and I headed over to Roger’s Gardens in Corona Del Mar to check out their annual “Halloween Boutique” display that had just opened for the season (and whose theme changes each year!) I had last visited their impressive greenhouse and gift shop last October, when the theme of the boutique was “The Witching Hour,” where their shop was transformed into a creepy, decrepit haunted house with multiple rooms filled to the brim with awesome decorations and one-of-a-kind pieces of art that were available to purchase.
This year’s theme was “The Gathering,” and while still very witchy, indeed – the shop had less of a ‘Disney’s Haunted Mansion’ vibe and more of an ‘American Horror Story: Coven’ feel – with plenty of eerie and mystical props that were so beautifully crafted. I grabbed a couple of things for my apartment that I’m looking forward to sharing once I have them just right in my place!
And then earlier this week, after getting caught up at work and reacclimating to my regular time zone, I hopped in the car with Dan for the first time in a couple of weeks to travel to Red Apple Farm in Phillipston, Massachusetts for some of their incredible apple cider slushies and doughnuts and some good, old fashioned pumpkin picking before we met with some of his family for one final lobster roll run of the season at the Local Burgy food truck while they were in the area and before the truck closes through the colder months.
It’s hard to believe I’ll have to wait until next Summer to experience their food again! It’s just so good!
Next week, I’m going to have a look at the early stages of my Fall wardrobe (specifically, one of the most harvest-inspired dresses ever!) a recap of a magical day I have planned in Mystic, Connecticut this weekend – and another “Local Loves” installment I’ve been saving for my favorite season!
Enjoy your weekend, everyone!
