Summer Sweets: S’mores Croissants

It doesn’t get more Summery and simple than a s’mores recipe. Three ingredients that are perfectly delicious on their own, but mashed together and toasted for a few minutes? I mean, what’s not to love? And while I’ve shared a couple of fun spins on what is a fool-proof recipe in the past, I’m a firm believer that nothing beats the original.

Until I saw these s’mores croissants on Instagram a couple of weeks ago, that is – and knew I had to try them for myself. There’s two ways to make these, depending on the occasion, both of which obviously substitute the graham cracker with a buttered croissant, instead. One is to roast the assembled s’more while it is wrapped in tin foil over an open fire (and this is ideal for camping trips and bonfires!)

The other is to simply bake the croissants in your oven – which is what I did earlier this week while working remotely.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Your desired number of pre-baked croissants.
  • 1 bag of marshmallows/mini marshmallows
  • 4-6 Hershey Chocolate bars, broken into individual squares

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

1. Pre-heat your oven to 350°F.

2. Slice the croissants open, and stuff with the desired amount of marshmallows/mini marshmallows and chocolate squares. Press the croissants closed to keep the marshmallows and chocolate squares securely inside.

3. Bake the croissants on a baking sheet for approximately 8-10 minutes.

4. Remove the croissants from the oven, allow to cool for 2-3 minutes, and serve!

I promise you that unless you leave these in the oven for too long, there is absolutely no way this recipe can be messed up in any way. It literally takes minutes to prep and cook- and the result is a warm, gooey, and flaky delight that can be enjoyed at any time of the day (remember – croissants are technically a breakfast food!)

Enjoy!
