Celebrating Mom and Food…

The weekend is simply not long enough, and I am neither ready nor prepared to return to work this morning after such a busy past couple of days filled with good food, lovely locations, and quality time with friends and family. It just seems unfair not to have an extra day to rest and ease my way back into my grown up responsibilities!

On Friday (which is my current “half day” at my job for the next few weeks) I spent most of the day performing a long overdue deep clean of my entire apartment, going from room to room to scrub the floors, countertops, appliances, baseboards, windowsills, etc. As exhausting as it was by the time I was finished, the end result was worth it. I don’t think my apartment has looked this spotless and tidy since the day I first moved in.

This week, I’m finishing my “Spring Cleaning” process with some redecorating. I’m anticipating the arrival of new rugs and dΓ©cor in a few days, and I’m so excited to share some photos when everything is all done. While my place was very much a “New England Beach Day” aesthetic last Spring/Summer, with lots of navy blues, lighthouse and lobster furnishings- this year I’m going a little more “Wild West” with it. Think more Southwestern-inspired prints and patterns, cacti-themed decorations, and overall cowgirl vibes. I like to switch it up every year!

On Saturday, I met up with Dan for a stroll through Smith College’s botanical garden and greenhouse since it was absolutely beautiful outside and I had a new dress he was helping me show off (I’ll have the photos on here later on this week!) before we headed for some outdoor eats at Local Burgy in nearby Haydenville. It’s one of our favorite spots, and while I was leaning towards starting my Summer early with my first lobster roll of the season- I showed some restraint and settled on Cap’n Crunch-crusted chicken tenders and buffalo/bleu cheese fries. Worth it.

And then, of course, I went and saw my mom yesterday to celebrate Mother’s Day with her. I brought her one of her favorite chocolate cakes and cards that I signed from both myself and her grand-doggy, Oliver. We then loaded said grand-doggy into the car with us and accomplished our yearly Mother’s Day tradition- a scenic drive, fried seafood, and ice cream- before it was time to bring her home and then bring myself back to my apartment to prepare for the work-week ahead.

So here I am! I’m wishing you all a painless and relaxing few days ahead. I’m excited to talk about a new addition to my wardrobe and celebrate the opening of one of my favorite seasonal spots later this week- so stay tuned!
