Spring In My Step…

One of the ways I tend to gauge if Spring has finally defeated Winter for seasonal dominance here in New England is to keep track of how many days in a row I can spend time outdoors, open the windows in my apartment, etc. without the need for a jacket or a blanket thrown over me. If I can make it over a week- then we’re in the clear. If not, then Winter is still lurking in the shadows.

I’m happy to report that it’s been a steady streak of success since this past weekend, with daily walks at the end of my days (which are so important for decompressing and getting some fresh air!) and afternoons with the sunshine and breeze pouring into my apartment while I’m working remotely from home. It’s been lovely!

I don’t want to jinx it, but I think Spring is here to stay for a while!

Another telltale sign is keeping track of the volume of blossoming trees with each passing day. While the ones directly outside my bedroom windows are still looking a little bare (they’re always the last to join the party, though!) I’ve had to travel less and less far to find stunning bursts of white and pink blossoms during my evening walks or my drives when I’m running errands.

I think a little later on this week I’m going to share some of my favorite locations to see flowers and blossoms for those visiting Western Massachusetts. There’s quite a few places- but I think I can narrow down my top five!

Until then, enjoy some photos I snapped around Historic Deerfield and Pomfret, Connecticut throughout these past few days!
