Art and the Mountains…

Happy Friday and Hello, March! With Spring on the horizon and the sun setting just a little bit later and later with each passing day, I’ve already found myself beginning the process of coming out of hibernation. I’ve started to unpack my skirts and dresses from storage to air out and iron, look into seasonal activities (both indoor and outdoor) I can participate in during the coming weeks ahead, and having the urge to have a lot more plants and flowers around my apartment!

Of course, I live in Massachusetts- so there’s a high probability that Winter will stick around for longer than anybody wants- but we’re used to it and I’m prepared to bundle up if and when needed. This past weekend, however, I was out and about in the Berkshires with only a light sweater on- and it was divine!

A couple of weeks ago, while on our way home from Rhinebeck, New York– Troy and I spotted a billboard for The Clark Art Institute in Williamstown that advertised free admission into the museum until March. Since neither one of us had ever been before, we decided to make a day trip of it to catch works from Monet, John Singer Sargent, Giovanni Boldini and Van Gogh (of course!)

The museum looks small when compared to other fine art museums in places like Boston or New York City- but it packs a punch! Troy and I spent a few hours in the galleries, working our way from room to room and snapping photos of some of our favorite paintings and sculptures we came across – and there were a lot of them!

The museum is also nestled near multiple trails and hiking paths, and is a short walk away from a number of restaurants and cafΓ©s- which makes it an ideal place to spend a warm and sunny Saturday! I’ve said it before, and likely a hundred times now- but The Berkshires are absolutely gorgeous and I feel so blessed to live so close to the area.

Although free admission ended as of today, I highly recommended visiting the institute if you ever find yourself in and around Williamstown and the North Adams areas, especially since MASS MoCA is just down the road!

You could make it a full weekend of art if you wanted!
