Leftover Candy and Live Music…

Although Maryland had been somewhat crisp during my recent stay, nothing could have prepared me for just how cold (and a little snowy!) New England had suddenly become during my brief absence. Stepping off of the plane and immediately seeing both my breath and frost on my windshield when I went to pick up my car after I flew back home the other night was wild!

But is is November, after all- and it’s officially time to turn the heat on (and up!) unpack the heavier coats from storage, and start looking up some new soup recipes for the days/weeks ahead. Cozy season rages on!

I took Wednesday off from blogging since I was catching that aforementioned flight back home, but I was also recovering from Halloween- and what a great time I had! It’s always so good spending time with Andrew and the kids, and when you add super cute costumes, an unbelievably friendly and welcoming neighborhood that loves to go all out and over-the-top with their decorations, and free candy into the mix- you’ve got the perfect night for tricks and treats!

Andrew and the kids had chosen a ‘Star Wars’ group costume this year, and I joined in as Chewbacca to make our way around the cul-de-sacs and townhouses for candy, snacks and cider. I’m sure I’ve said it before, but I adore their neighborhood. Not only is it filled with a ton of kids their age they can play with, but everyone is so nice, considerate and compassionate towards one another. You truly feel the sense of community when you’re there- and I’m so glad the kids get to experience it.

This was my first Halloween with them since 2020 when I had flown out to Vegas for a more socially distanced trick-or-treating experience around Henderson, Nevada. Since then, they’ve definitely gotten the hang of it- and at times I found myself jogging to keep up with them as they sprinted door to door to fill their candy bags. At the end of the night, they needed help carrying them back to the house, so I think they did pretty good!

When I landed back in Boston on Wednesday night, I immediately headed to The Sinclair after warming my car up to catch a set from The Hives before I had to head to work bright and early yesterday morning. They’ve been one of my favorite bands since I was a teenager in high school, and they’re still just so good.

Not only are they still consistently putting out incredibly fun and catchy albums, but they are hands down one of the best live bands you’ll ever see- so don’t miss them if they come to your city/town! They’re touring to promote their most recent release (and it’s a banger!)

And today, after I finish working- I fully plan on catching up on some much-needed sleep before I launch into some late-Fall, pre-holiday adventures a little closer to home!

I can’t wait!
