My Top 5 Fall Playlists!

Good Morning and Happy Friday, everyone! I’m on the road this morning, driving the scenic way to Asbury Park, New Jersey- where I’ll be meeting up with Andrew and the kids for part of the weekend and seeing some great live music for the last outdoor festival of 2023 (here in the Northeast, anyway!)

So it seemed fitting that with it being a cool, crisp almost-Fall morning, my upcoming Saturday being filled with great bands and festival food, and plenty of time planned in the car to catch up on podcasts and zone out to some of my favorite playlists- that I would share some of my favorites that I like to leap into during my favorite season of the year!

I haven’t put together a mini-list like this since last Summer, where I shared five of my favorite beachy, dreamy and on occasion, loud and fast- hot weather playlists to sync up when I was cruising the coast, having a backyard BBQ, etc. So consider this updated assortment of playlists- some user-generated/curated- my go-to soundtracks for days at the pumpkin patch, working from home while watching the rain against my windows, and long drives to look at foliage.

I’ll include links so you can check them out for yourself, too!

Vintage Jazz for Autumn – First up is this Spotify user-curated playlist that has been one of my absolute favorites to tune into while I’m working from home, baking Pumpkin-infused desserts or decorating my apartment with a variety of Harvest and Halloween-themed trinkets. Featuring plenty of big band songs, artists like Eartha Kitt, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and so many other beloved singers- as well as a few “spooky” songs sprinkled throughout for good measure- this playlist is a perfect time capsule that can entertain/relax you all the way through Halloween.

Music for Writing – Finding a solid playlist for productivity can be a bit of a challenge sometimes since everyone works differently and finds comfort/motivation in a wide array of things. I personally work my best and most efficient when I have a soundtrack involving classical piano and plenty of mellow instrumentals. This playlist, created by Spotify- has been perfect- not only for working from home without distraction but also for when I’m writing on cloudy, cooler September mornings since it is so relaxing and absolutely perfect for the cozy aesthetic I’m manifesting for this Fall.

Coffee Shop Fall – It can be hard finding a playlist that is pretty solid and consistent from start to finish. Some curators either start putting in random tracks to fill up more time that break the spell of the overall vibe/mood they had set out to establish, while others simply type in the words “Fall,” “Autumn,” and “Spooky” and just add whatever pops up (for the record- this is never a good idea!)

But this 11 hour playlist by Spotify user Vivian Reitz is fantastic, soothing, and seasonal all the way through. Featuring chill songs from Wallows, The Lumineers and Hozier- among so many others- this one never goes off the rails- and has quickly become one of my favorite playlists to have on in the car.

Autumn Acoustic – This Spotify-generated playlist (clocking in at just over five hours’ worth of tunes) is one I’ve come back to year after year, specifically when I need some background music playing gently while I’m entertaining guests or spending some chill, down time with company. I can confirm I’ve cooked many soups and baked many pies with my mom and with some of my friends while listening to this playlist, which includes gentle tracks by Novo Amor, Daughter, and Iron & Wine. You can’t go wrong with acoustic songs!

Fire Sounds – Okay, okay- hear me out. I know this isn’t a music playlist, but it’s still one of the most relaxing things I have saved in my Spotify collection that never fails to calm me/help me unwind and often lull me to sleep- especially during the Fall/Winter months. This is one I put on when I’m feeling restless in bed, or need something playing in the background while I read/write.

There’s plenty of ASMR and sound therapy options available across different media platforms. Some people like the sound of rainfall, others like the sound of the ocean (and both are lovely!) but I absolutely adore the sound of crackling fire/fireplaces. I don’t have a fireplace in my current apartment- so this is the next best thing! And this playlist has 5 hours of different variations.

And there it is! Five playlists I’ve been loving and looking to in order to get me more into an Autumnal state of mind. If you’ve got any playlist recommendations, feel free to drop me a line or leave me a comment! I’d love to check them out!

I’ll be back next week with a recap of my road trip to/from Jersey, a peek into my latest Fall wardrobe now that it’s starting to get a little cooler out- and some photos from a day out with Dan that I have planned when I’m back in Massachusetts early next week!

(And if anyone knows who I can credit for my header image, please let me know! I tried to find the original artist with no luck, and its been making the rounds on Pinterest!)
