When choosing a dress for a recent outing in The Berkshires where I met up with my dear friend Dan’s family for lunch and some shopping around Stockbridge, I wanted to be bright and bold for the occasion- but also comfortable! It’s been so hot these past couple of weeks, so I’ve been mindful about the type of fabrics and fits I’ve been wearing so I can stay as cool and as sweat-proof as possible.
I found this loose-fitting blue and floral-print ruffle dress hanging in my closet, a purchase I’d made at Kohl’s last Summer (and part of Lauren Conrad’s collection) for a trip to Orange County I had planned. Long-time readers may remember it from some of the photos I’d snapped while I was in and around Irvine shortly after my arrival!
With soft straps and a tie front, this dress still fits wonderfully and is super lightweight and breathable- making it the perfect choice for a particularly sweltering day. Despite the heat and humidity- I still looked put together for the outing in one of the more upscale and dressier locations in Western Massachusetts.
I especially love that the print on this piece is more tropical in it’s shades, as opposed to Springtime pastels and florals. I paired it with my usual wrap-around knot sandals and a gold coin necklace to bring it all together- two of my every day accessories this time of year!

On our way back to the Pioneer Valley, and with the sun hitting just right- Dan and I stopped to snap some photos of both the scenery and this dress while outside Carms in Chester. The building is one of my favorites, and it made for a fun backdrop- even though they were closed by the time we got there!
I’m looking forward to sporting this dress again before the season is over. It deserves so much more wear time than I gave it last year!
