OOTD: Cherished Details

Staying in my apartment for over 24 hours last weekend during the record-breaking polar vortex gave me quite a bit of time to catch up on TV series I’d fallen behind on, rearrange some furniture throughout my apartment, and reorganize my closet while looking for some additional blankets and fleece pajamas. Much to my surprise (and delight!) in the back of my closet was this black, long-sleeved and knee-length dress with some of the prettiest 3D floral embellishments on the shoulders. And, to be perfectly frank- I got a little emotional when I saw it.

This dress was a birthday gift from my father, circa 2010, that he had picked up at LOFT– and is a piece I’ve cherished and refused to part with over the years. It’s ideal for special occasions, but it looks great when you’re going out to a couple of local bars/restaurants, too! I was thrilled that it still fit after so much time, and I made it a little more dramatic for a night out with black shiny tights, knee-high boots, a bright red lip- and a subtle-but-shiny necklace from COACH.

This dress is timeless. It’s soft, comfortable, a little fancy- and definitely classy- and I fully intend on wearing it more often throughout 2023. It was such a beautiful gift from my dad- and I love it so, so much. I’m so happy I found it!

I’m also looking forward to wearing this one in the warmer weather with any of the gorgeous and unique shoes/heels I own- because I absolutely organized that collection this past weekend, too! I have so many gems to share in the weeks ahead when Spring eventually arrives!
