It’s been quite a while since I’ve been on a boat- although I’m hoping that will change in the coming weeks ahead when I venture back into Rye and Portsmouth, New Hampshire for a couple of days by the ocean- and I’ve already got a comfortable, breezy and still Summery ensemble put together and ready to go that will take me from dock to yacht and back again after a day (or night!) out at sea.
This bright blue and green midi skirt is one of my favorites to wear on a sunny day (although we admittedly haven’t had many of those here in New England since July started.) It’s loose-fitting and easy to move around in- and can be dressed up or down with pretty much anything.
During a recent outing to the wharfs in Newport, Rhode Island- I paired this skirt with a simple white t-shirt, silver sandals and my wide-brimmed straw hat to shield my face from the sun. It didn’t help much with the wind, however- which was pretty aggressive throughout the day!

And although the skirt may appear see-through in the sunlight, I can assure you that it provides plenty of coverage and that no one will see anything more than a silhouette of legs at any given time. It has a thin but practical liner along the waist area- so I could proceed with my adventure without feeling self-conscious.
Topping things off with a good pair of sunglasses and my “OUT OF OFFICE” bag- and there was no denying I was in vacation mode during my day trip- a mode I’m very much looking forward to returning to shortly!
