There are a few pieces in my wardrobe and jewelry/accessory collection that remind me of a certain place or a specific memory. Earrings that remind me of a fancy dinner with friends. A knitted sweater that reminds me of my favorite pumpkin patch in my community. Shoes that remind me of a night running around NYC and trying to find a taxi on New Year’s Eve- of all nights!- many moons ago. They all bring me back to those times/places and they always raise my spirits or make me smile when needed.
So earlier this week, as the snow fell during one of my evening walks around the neighborhood and my ears started to hurt from the cold (despite having a hat pulled over them!) I thought about traveling back to the scorching heat of Nevada again, how I’d welcome the soaring temperatures as I gambled or drove though the desert- and from there- remembered I had the mother of all “Viva Las Vegas!” lined jackets hanging up in my closet.
This gold sequined, zip-up bomber jacket by Anna-Kaci, a piece I don’t get to wear out often these days given the ongoing pandemic- catches the light from all angles and actually keeps me pretty warm when zipped fully- even in a harsh New England Winter!
I love how flashy it is, and it reminds me of similar sequined tops/jackets/accessories/etc. I’d seen on display in casinos like The Flamingo and The Golden Nugget during past visits to Vegas. Paired with all black to make the sparkle pop even more (a black turtleneck, a pair of faux-leather leggings and knee high black boots)– I felt like I was back on the strip- even it was just for an afternoon soaking up the sun and getting some fresh air on a secluded rooftop across the street from my place.
This jacket would definitely be perfect for the holidays- especially New Year’s Eve in chillier climates. It’s bold, daring, comfy- and durable! None of the sequins come loose or fall off- even when I’m moving around a lot.
And best of all? You don’t need to go overboard with your makeup or your accessories. This jacket does all that work for you- so you can keep everything else low-key and laid-back. There’s nothing better than that!
