Playing With Pantone…

Every year, when Pantone announces their Color of the Year- I like to try and incorporate it into my daily looks- be it with some new makeup, on-trend accessories, or fun fashion pieces. It’s always exciting (and sometimes even a bit challenging!) to inject a new color into my wardrobe or cosmetics collection- especially when it’s one I don’t typically wear often.

So, when it was revealed that the color of the year for 2020 would be 19-4052 – Classic Blue- my wallet breathed a sigh of relief. I have SO much of this beautiful, calming hue in my closet and in my makeup bag already! Be it with my assortment of denim, or beanies/scarves, to jewelry- and daring eyeshadow and eyeliners.

Classic Blue is one of my favorite shades revealed to date since it’s so easy to match with essentially any color, pattern or print- and it looks so good on everyone!

From Pantone’s website:

“A timeless and enduring blue hue, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue is elegant in its simplicity. Suggestive of the sky at dusk, the reassuring qualities of the thought-provoking PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue highlight our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era. Imprinted in our psyches as a restful color, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge. Aiding concentration and bringing laser like clarity, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue re-centers our thoughts. A reflective blue tone, Classic Blue fosters resilience.”

I recently went all out with the color, sporting it with one of my favorite sweaters (a Primark purchase from a few years back,) a blue liquid eyeliner from Fenty– and a recent splurge- cat eye sunglasses from RainbowOPTX. The shades, more than just a unique spin on standard sunglasses- actually have some science behind them, too. The different colored lenses are supposed to improve/boost your mood. And, in the case of these blue frames- which also boast UVA and UBV ray protection- they are also able to assist with mental calming/relaxation while worn.

Each color has it’s own unique benefits/properties- depending on what you’re looking for and/or trying to accomplish spiritually. Consider me intrigued!

Finally, I popped by my favorite nail salon earlier this week for a pre-birthday manicure and opted for a sparkly and Winter-appropriate “Classic Blue” shade, too. You can see it in the photos above, but of course I took a close up because, well- sparkles! Need I say more?

I’m sure as the year progresses and the weather in New England changes, I’ll find more ways and opportunities to incorporate this coolest of cool shades into my daily looks. For now, though- I’m keeping it subtle and simple with little touches here and there.

If you’ve been playing with Pantone’s 2020 Color of the Year and want to share some of your favorite finds/pieces inspired by the shade- feel free to drop me a line or leave a comment!
