My Spring Makeup Routine!

As I begin the process of transitioning out of my big, bulky sweaters and wool jackets to have them cleaned and stored away for the season so I can make room in my closet for my sundresses, billowy blouses and linen shorts – it’s also about that time for me to do some “Spring Cleaning” in my makeup bag, too. Out with the nearly empty and almost expired, and in with the new, as they say!

For this season, I wanted to start bringing back more bright colors and more hints of pinks and peach to my cheeks and my lids. As much fun as I’ve been having wearing a lot of golds and coppers throughout the Fall and Winter months, I’m ready for a change as I begin to incorporate more pastels and bright prints into my every day looks.

So I’ll be sharing the new additions here, including some swatches near the end of the post, and links to the products for anyone who may want to give them a try, too. I’ve also included links to previous “Makeup Routine” installments I’ve written over the years, in case anyone is seeking inspiration from past looks and splurges I’ve shared!

I’ve had my eye on this coral/peach highlighter from Haus Labs for quite some time now, and the videos I’ve seen of people applying it have left me mesmerized. Formulated to melt onto your skin upon application and give the appearance of your face being in “golden hour” lighting at every angle, this shade – “Fire Opal” – is absolutely stunning on every complexion. I was just waiting for the appropriate time to grab one of my own to try, and with Spring in the air in recent days/weeks – I figured now was my chance!

To say I’m obsessed is an understatement. This highlighter glides on effortlessly, gives me instant radiance, and literally brings my entire makeup look to life for the day/evening.

Lady Gaga knows her stuff – and you can watch her give an application tutorial on the website for the product in case you need a little guidance!

I’ve been ready to bring back pinks, corals and minty hues on my lids for quite some time now, but then it would start snowing and I’d go back to my usual cold-weather-neutrals again. Now, with flowers literally blooming outside my window as I write this, I’ve finally been able to start playing with this Danessa Myricks mini palette I picked up – and it’s been a lot of fun!

This little compact (and the packaging is superb!) comes with three matte shades and three sparkling, foil-flake shades to play around with and mix & match. While I love the matte shades for sure – the metallic ones have been the most fun for me since I can pat them over an equally sparkling base for a really bright and fun look for both the office or when I’m out with my friends and we’re already dreaming of our Summer plans together.

This one is going to be my go-to for the season and likely into the Summertime, as well!

It pretty much takes me a year to get through a bottle of bronzing drops since I only use a little bit with each makeup application I perform, so I’d been holding onto the one I shared last Summer for quite some time, but when I recently ran out and started noticing that I was looking like a Victorian-era ghost in photographs without them, I knew I had to grab another bottle.

My local ULTA was out of the Essence ones, but the Sephora a couple of towns away had these face and body drops available from Tarte. After swatching the available shades, I fell in love with the “Champagne Glow” one since it gave me a little boost of color/bronze without making me look orange. The formula is easy to mix with my moisturizer on days when I’m in a hurry or with my foundation when I’m taking the time to get ready to go out for work or an event and need some long-lasting radiance.

I’m looking forward to trying this stuff out on my body when I finally get around to visiting a more tropical climate again, or when I can wear shorts for extended periods of time without feeling chilly!

And finally, even though I’m getting back into pastels and corals again for the warmer months, I still wanted a couple of simple, neutral/rose-hued lipsticks to keep in my purse for when I’m on the go and need a quick touch-up since a more natural-lip can even out the most bright and bold of blush/highlighter or eyeshadow combinations.

For the daytime, I turned to Charlotte Tilbury’s original “Pillow Talk” Matte Revolution lipstick, not only because it’s moisturizing and long-lasting, but also because it looks the best with whatever I’m wearing to my office or for daytime events and obligations.

And for the evenings/nights, I like to go just a teeny, tiny bit darker for a touch of drama – and the Matte Velvet Lipstick by Sephora in the shade “Too Good To Be True” gives me just the right amount of plumpness and color for dinner with friends or a date night with my boyfriend. This one also lasts quite some time, so frequent reapplications aren’t necessary!

And while that pretty much sums up the new additions to my makeup bag for the Springtime season – I’ve also got some swatches to share, too! Please remember that, as stated earlier, I typically have the complexion of a Victorian-era ghost on any given day, so some of the pigmentation may look a little different on me than it would on someone else – but I assure you these products are lovely when seen in person!

And as always, I’m taking recommendations for any products or upcoming new cosmetic releases/collaborations for when I put together my collection for the Summer in a few months, so feel free to drop me a line if you’re using anything you’re loving that you think I should check out, too!

See you all again a little later on this week!
