This Winter has been particularly brutal for those of us who are living in the Northeast/New England regions. Between getting buried under more snow than any of us know what to do with (and more is expected later on this week!), consistent temperatures in the negatives that have lasted for days at a time, and having to keep heaters cranked at all hours – it’s safe to say that my skin and hair have taken a beating throughout these past couple of months and are in need of some TLC that go beyond my monthly facial or hair upkeep appointments.
For this season’s new additions that I’ve phased into my daily routines, I’ve looked into and ultimately turned to products that focus on providing shine and anti-frizz benefits to my hair during the most damaging of seasons, and both brightening and deeply hydrating results to my complexion. I’ve been using these finds over the past few weeks and have already noticed a significant improvement overall – so I’m excited to share them here with price points and links for anyone who may be in the same predicament I was!
And, of course, I’ve linked to past installments of these posts as well, since I still turn to and use many – if not all – of the products previously featured here!

I typically have combination/oily skin in the Spring, Summer and Fall – and the products I use most often during the later parts of the year are for combatting shine, clogged pores, and the occasional breakout that pops up when I am just trying to live my best outdoorsy, beach-side life.
In the Winter, however, my skin tends to hit me with it’s own version of the UNO Reverse card. It gets dry, it gets dull, it gets itchy/patchy, and given that I just had a milestone birthday last month – I really want to make sure it’s being properly exfoliated and moisturized this time of year so that the effects of extreme cold/indoor heating don’t cause any permanent issues.
The daily exfoliating pads from Medicube have been a lifesaver – not only because they’re extremely gentle and don’t burn or further dry out my skin – but also because I can see an almost immediate glow after I use one in the morning and at night. My skin looks and feels revitalized and ready for the remainder of my skincare regimen.
And for moisturizer, I stumbled across the Korean brand flaner and, specifically, their tomato and peptide-infused facial gel. This cooling, deeply hydrating formula has completely changed my complexion for the better this Winter. My skin is soft, smooth, and plumped up for hours on end until it’s time to reapply hours later. It’s been amazing!

I have naturally thick, curly and often unruly hair – and I spend a small fortune every month getting my red roots touched up and toner distributed throughout it to brighten and liven up my ends. In the Winter, when my frizz-levels are at an all-time high, I wanted to find products that would keep the results of my salon visits going for just a little longer so I didn’t feel like I was throwing my money away and, more importantly, so that I was keeping my hair healthy and strong.
This season, I hopped on board the heatless curlers craze – not because I need any more curl in my hair – but because the satin rod and scrunchie combination has worked wonders in keeping my hair frizz-free each morning when I unwrap my hair from around it. My curls are soft, bouncy, and ready for styling!
Speaking of styling – I was introduced to this spray on gloss formula at my salon during a recent visit. Not only does this lightweight, sweet-smelling and non-sticky spritz make my hair look as shiny as glass, but it acts as a protectant against heat and environmental dangers, too – like, say, sub-zero temperatures? I’m in love!

And there we have it! Another season and another installment of what you can find added into my daily/nightly routines. I’ve been enjoying these products so much as of late that I’m sure they’re going to continue to be used regularly into the Spring and Summer, as well – although I’ll have a few new things to add when I put together my next installment too, of course.
If you’ve got any Winter-friendly product recommendations you think I should check out this season, please feel free to leave a comment or drop me a line! I love trying out new things!
A little later on this week, I’ll have a look back on my Valentine’s/Gal-entine’s Day festivities and another installment of “Local Loves” to share with you all. See you then!
