A blessed “Food Coma Recovery Day” to you and yours for everyone who celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday! While I’m laying here typing this and questioning my life choices, specifically as it pertained to grabbing seconds of mashed potatoes and ham last night, I wanted to take some time to recap this past November in all it’s frenzied, fun glory – especially because December is just days away and it’s already looking like it’s going to be just as busy and bustling.
I had started November in full Halloween recovery mode, spending a lazy weekend visiting a small, remote art museum and beginning the early stages of my “mood board” transition into Thanksgiving/Christmas mode with a visit to a local holiday shop before I wrote about my seasonal skin/hair care routine (as is tradition!)
I headed down to North Carolina earlier this month to visit with Andrew and The Kids amid the government shutdown, which made for an interesting time at the airports with a number of delays and last-minute cancelations. It all ended up working out, of course – and my trip was brief but an absolute blast!
Once home, I stopped by a beloved Rhode Island-based garden center to continue my quest for the Christmas spirit, although I also took some time to write about the difficulties I’ve been having feeling merry this season given everything going on in the world at any given moment – however even I was feeling particularly festive when I woke up yesterday morning – so I think I may be on the upswing at long last.
All of that, of course, was in-between sharing cute outfits and seasonal-inspired recipes – and didn’t include recent happenings like visiting a Wells Provisions pop-up and craft fair with Dan and his family, video gaming sessions with my longtime friends Sean and George, celebrating Oliver’s 13th birthday (!!!) and a few other moments of pure joy and silly fun that truly gave me more things to be grateful for in this season of being thankful.
This coming weekend is going to be spent in the company of my friends and family for an extended Thanksgiving celebration (including the first of two Friendsgivings I have in my calendar!) doing some more Christmas shopping and decorating before it comes down to the wire, and then we are officially in the home stretch of 2025!
So what do I have planned for the weeks ahead? There’s wreath making classes, holiday light display competitions, gift-exchanges and plenty of big meals lined up in December – and I’ll be putting the final touches on my full recap of 2025 as a whole before it’s time for me to step out for New Year’s Eve for some fun and cozy plans I’ve been making – and will absolutely be sharing when the time is right.
But there’s still a couple of days left in November, and given that this month was really a blast for me in many beautiful ways, I intend to enjoy the remainder of it surrounded by some of the people I love and cherish the most (and bundled up because it is getting absolutely frigid out there these days!) I’m truly blessed and appreciative, and I hope to carry those vibes into the month ahead!
Here’s wishing you all a wonderful long weekend, and I’ll see you next week!
