And just like that, I’m back in Massachusetts and back to work (and blogging!) as usual again after a brief but wonderful stay in North Carolina, with only a few travel hiccups that occurred when I was departing Boston. Thankfully, my flight home this past Wednesday afternoon/evening was short, sweet and on-time – so I was able to get my car and get home before it got too late!
I’ve definitely talked about how much I love spending time with Kelsey’s family in the past, and how every time I get to hang out with her kids (who are growing up so fast!) is always an adventure – filled with sharing memories of their mom, silliness, creativity and so much energy. This past trip, although brief, was no different – and I’m so glad I got to spend a few days with them doing arts & crafts, running around their local playground, eating sushi, and cuddling on the couch while we watched ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ together no less than several times. They’re obsessed!
… Although the songs are still stuck in my head now, actually.
I see so much of Kelsey in each of them, and I know she’d be so proud of who they’re becoming and how they’re blossoming into such fun and thoughtful mini versions of her. Being able to witness it as I watch them grow has been such a bittersweet privilege.
Now that I’m back home, I’ve been gradually shifting into “Holiday Mode” – including preparing for Thanksgiving, a planned decorating session at my apartment this weekend, designing this year’s holiday cards and beginning the early phases of my Christmas shopping so that I’m not left scrambling by mid-December – but I’m also getting ready to share some seasonal recipes and local festive hot-spots in the days to come!
