Local Loves: Kiel James Patrick

It’s been a little difficult to get into a spooky state of mind over the past few days as the temperatures here in New England are still soaring high. Stepping outside is giving more of a “mid-July” vibe than it is a “cozy, Autumnal” one, and I’ve often had to forego my chic sweaters and Fall-esque accessories for t-shirts and shorts, instead.

Although this coming week’s forecast looks a little promising, and dare I say more of a true return to the October weather I know, love and look forward to year-round – I’m presently writing this with a fan on full-blast, so…

Regardless, this past weekend I was determined to manifest a cozy October day (even if I was sweating through my clothes while I did so,) and headed down to Newport, Rhode Island to check out the Halloween dΓ©cor around town, grab lunch, and upgrade my seasonal wardrobe with some new additions from the Kiel James Patrick flagship store on Bowen’s Wharf.

Many of you may be familiar with Kiel James Patrick (or KJP for short.) The company, run by a New England-based husband and wife team – have created some of the most popular and pretty Fall and holiday season imagery over the years that has been shared and re-posted thousands of times across pretty much all social media platforms. A lot of their images, involving their adorable golden retrievers or their over-the-top festive displays at their home – are recreated around their Newport location, too.

After marveling at a very impressive pumpkin display outside their store, I was then left to marvel at their huge assortment of Autumnal sweaters, dresses, and accessories they had available once I’d stepped inside. There were so many things that caught my eye, not just for myself – but as gifts for my boyfriend, for my friends’ kids, and even for my dog!

It was all very much a love letter to New England and the New England aesthetic, which I really like, because I feel truly blessed to live here.

When I saw a pair of corduroy pants that I absolutely fell in love with, a very sweet and attentive sales associate went above and beyond to help me find ones that had the right hem. I bought them, of course – and I’ll be sharing them on ‘Coffee & Chiffon‘ soon, I’m sure!

I’ve already promised my mom I’d take her to check out their Christmas selection when the time comes, as they’re known to go big with their decorations around the holidays, as well – and I’m sure I’ll be buying a few more things when I do head back!
