I’ve been back in Massachusetts for a couple of days now, having missed some wild weather (including a few tornado touchdowns!) as we begin to transition from Summer to Fall – but the mornings have had a delightful chill to them, and the storefronts are starting to display more and more pumpkins and mums – so I’m feeling spectacularly Autumnal since my return home!
The remainder of my stay in Vegas last week with my boyfriend, Troy, was just as magical as the first half of the trip. I cherish the time he and I get to spend together, even if we’re doing little more than watching TV on the couch or running errands. I could go on and on about how much I love him and how happy he makes me – but I’ve got more photos and recaps to share!
Wanting to visit a couple of locations we’d never been before amid stopping by long-time and beloved favorites like Peppermill and the secret pizza parlor at The Cosmopolitan, Troy and I visited two side-by-side art museums down by Aria near the end of last week.
The first, Arte Museum, is an immersive gallery that brilliantly uses both large and small spaces, timed music/sounds, and digital imaging along with coordinated lights and mirrors to create an awe-inspiring immersive experience. We spent hours in there just marveling at everything as we explored from room to room, hallway to hallway. My favorite places to just sit and stare were the paper lantern room and a wrap-around Van Gogh tribute – but I also adored the “Live Sketchbook” room, where you could color pictures of different animals, scan them, and then watch them come to life and roam the walls around you!
There was also the Arte Café, where Troy and I enjoyed caramel lattes that had bursts of color and fish swimming through them via some carefully placed projectors! It was so cool!
Next, it was onto The Museum of Illusions. While this museum was also interactive and featured some really cool photo op set-ups for visitors, it’s primary purpose was to showcase popular illusions and eye-tricks and explain the science behind them. On more than one occasion, I was mind-blown as to how the human brain can do some really wild things! We are fascinating creatures, for sure.
On my second-to-last night in town, Troy surprised me with a dinner reservation at Barry’s Downtown Prime, located within the Circa off of Fremont Street. Voted one of the best steakhouses in Las Vegas, I had an incredible rib eye, shared some lobster mac & cheese, and enjoyed a couple of delicious strawberry martinis. Our server, Eric, even surprised us with a bonus dessert after we’d ordered what was described as a renowned banana cream pie!
And it was all devoured in record time!
On our drive home, we saw the most spectacular lightning storm that followed us to Henderson. We ended up parking on the side of the road to watch the sky light up for what seemed like ages. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it.
My last day in Vegas was spent getting in some last minute cuddles, time by the pool, and doing tasks like laundry and beginning the packing process – but Troy helped me along the way to make sure I didn’t forget anything important and to keep me from getting overwhelmed. He also kept me caffeinated with plenty of pumpkin chai lattes – which is always appreciated!
I had such a fun, beautiful, and relaxing trip – and I’m so beyond grateful to have been able to take the time to make it happen. I’m looking forward to seeing Troy again, hopefully sooner than later and before it starts getting too cold here in New England!
A little later on this week, it’s time to dip into my Fall wardrobe as I begin to get into my favorite season of them all! I can feel my power growing!
