In-between working, packing, recording and getting ready to launch into all things Fall as we prepare to head into September – I’ve also been putting together my monthly collection of favorite purchases, gifts, and odds & ends that have made this past August so memorable and iconic in so many ways. What an incredible Summer this has been – although I’m saving my full recap of the month for this coming Friday!
Before I get to that, however, please first enjoy this latest installment of “A Few of My Favorite Things” – featuring lunchboxes, wine, and an obligatory sweatshirt – among a few other miscellaneous items and oddities!

Having recently participated in our annual “Summertime Girls Trip” a couple of weeks ago, I can say that no get-together with my girlfriends is complete without a selection of beverages to enjoy together on the patio, by the pool, or on the beach. While we all brought plenty of snacks and drinks to get us through the weekend – I’d also brought a couple of bottles of one of my favorite white wines – made locally in Newport!
The “Great White” Wine (and seriously, what a great name!) is sweet, crisp and fruity – and paired so well with the seafood I ate for most of my weekend away!
There’s also a “Great White” RosΓ© that is just as delicious and refreshing. You best believe I showed up with a bottle of that one, too!

If you thought I was done collecting trinket dishes this season, you’re sorely mistaken – especially when one like this oyster-shaped dish also comes with a matching spoon to go with it!
This little serving dish was an impulse purchase I’d treated myself to while I was picking out presents for gift baskets for the girls. While it can easily be used for a number of things, I’m sure, it’s presently on display in my kitchen for the next few weeks before I pack it up and start redecorating for the upcoming Autumn season.
Or maybe I leave it out year-round? It really is so cute!

Although I have more than one lunchbox/tote that I bring with me on days I travel into the office, I couldn’t resist buying this seagull one I’d spotted while on the Cape, courtesy of Blue Q. Made of recycled materials and super durable – I’ve been stopped so many times when I have this one hanging off my shoulder because of of how funny and eye-catching the illustration is.
Also? I can fit so much in this one despite how small it looks from the outside! I’m obsessed!

I know so many of my “Favorite Things” this month are from my girls trip to Cape Cod – but it was such a wonderful weekend spent in such a wonderful place that it’s hard not to collect so many mementos! One of those mementos I’ve been using both on toast in the morning and in my cooking/baking at night are these cranberry preserves by Cape Cod Traveler.
There had been a farm stand directly across the street from our accommodations, and we had grabbed plenty of meat, cheeses and produce from there throughout the weekend – but I love a good jam/jelly on toast, and I love cranberries – so this was a no brainer to buy! These are delicious!

Finally, no trip to the Cape is complete without a trip to Cuffy’s to buy an annual hoodie, and as I’d mentioned earlier this month – I’d chosen this beautiful sage green pullover to get me through the Fall/Winter (and those cooler Summer nights!) until I head back next season to be overstimulated by the store in the best ways possible.
I’ll be wearing this one on the plane to Nevada in a few days to keep me warm and cozy – until I land, at least!

Now, while that just about does it for the favorites I could line up, assemble, and take photos of – a few more things made the list this month, too!
– MUSIC/MOVIES/TELEVISION –
The Hives – ‘The Hives Forever Forever The Hives’: One of my favorite bands dropped their latest album a few days ago, and after being teased endlessly by the release of singles over the past few months, I finally got to listen to it in it’s entirety! I love The Hives – they’re funny and engaging and have withstood the test of time – but most importantly, their music continues to kick ass.
This one is another album of bangers I can’t wait to hear live when they come back to town!
‘The Naked Gun’ – Having seen him in ‘Ted 2’ and ‘A Million Ways To Die in the West’, I’ve known Liam Neeson was more than capable of being over-the-top silly and great with slapstick comedy despite most of his work being on the more serious and intense side, and I’d been really excited to see him in the new ‘Naked Gun’ reboot. I’m happy to report that this one had me laughing – hard – from start to finish.
It’s so ridiculous and insane but in all the best ways!
‘Weapons’ – I’d been anxiously awaiting this movie for a long time now, having heard the rumors about the bidding war to obtain the rights to it and seeing the small, teaser trailers leading up to it’s release. I finally got to catch this one this past week after avoiding spoilers for as long as possible – and it was worth the wait (and the hype!) I was creeped out and felt unnerved for most of the film, which is a good thing for anyone looking for a decent and unique horror movie like I was!
I can’t see wait to see what Zach Cregger does with his new ‘Resident Evil’ movie!
____
And that concludes this month’s installment. A little later on this week, I’ll be bidding a fond farewell to August (and Summer of 2025 in general!) with a look back at all my adventures from these past few weeks.
’til then!
