Marble House and Milestone Birthdays…

August has been such a busy month for me that I’m still in a state of disbelief that it’s almost over. I’ve had to remind myself a few times in recent weeks that it’s perfectly acceptable to stop and take a breath or a break from time to time – but I’ve been having so much fun that it’s hard to just simply slow down!

This past weekend was no exception, as I had plenty of reservations and parties I needed to get to on time. Thankfully, all of them were within short walking or driving distances from one another around Rhode Island!

On Saturday morning, my first stop was at my favorite of all the Newport Mansions – Marble House – where I’d managed to get a bright and early reservation for my mother and I at the Chinese Tea House that sits oceanside in the mansion’s spacious backyard so that we could indulge in their high tea menu. Some of you may remember that both myself and my mom absolutely love a good high tea event – and we’ve been trying out all sorts of them around New England this year!

The Chinese Tea House was, from my memory of previous visits to the grounds, closed off to the public for a significant amount of time, so to not only be able to finally see the stunning detail of the exterior up close and in person – but to also be able to dine on an extensive menu of fantastic, fresh savory and sweet bites (as well as an entrée and a number of delicious beverages!) – was an absolute treat. The interior of the Tea House is so spacious and beautifully lit in the sunshine, and just as intricately decorated as the outside!

Later on in the day, after dropping my mom off so she could tend to other plans she’d had, it was off to Providence to celebrate my friend Ashley’s 40th birthday with our mutual girlfriends. We’d kicked off the festivities with an axe and knife-throwing session over at Far Shot on Chestnut Street. After some practice throws, we all began getting better and better with our aim – getting bullseyes and spot-on shots throughout the couple of hours we’d booked.

Also, hurling an axe at a target? It’s a surprisingly good workout for your arms!

After we’d wrapped up, we walked over to Rooftop At The Providence G for dinner and drinks as the sun began to set over the city. I enjoyed a really incredible crab dip and some hot honey & pepperoni pizza with an impressive cheese pull before we’d closed out the evening with champagne and a sparkler-topped cake for Ashley. It was such a beautiful night – and a really great way to start wrapping up the month of August!

The girls and I have a bonfire get-together planned for when I return from Vegas in a couple of weeks, and then some more Autumnal activities as we begin the rollout to the Fall 2025 season! I can’t wait!
