Happy Fourth of July to those celebrating here in the States, even if it feels like the very fabric of this country is fraying and falling apart at any given moment. I’ll never say no to a long weekend, and I’m certainly not saying no to heading up to New Hampshire today to get some lobster, drink up the sunshine and take in a view of the ocean. It’s the best way to celebrate my own independence, if I do say so myself.
But before I hit the road and embark on my July mini-break – I wanted to share some of the new additions to my makeup collection this season that I’ve been absolutely loving and getting some seriously beautiful wear from throughout these past few weeks. This Summer’s assortment includes a bargain buy that is a game changer for those looking to even out their tan lines, and a couple of amazing products from a beauty brand that hail from California, where it is perpetually Summertime year-round!
As always, I’ll have swatches of the products near the end of the post, and will include links so you can shop the items/collections yourselves – but I’m also including some links to previous makeup routines I’ve shared in the past over the years for anyone who wants to take a look!

Let’s dive right into it!

Between Italy and spending as much time outdoors as I can this Summer, I’ve gotten a little bit of color on my face and across my body (even with religiously applying sunscreen multiple times per day!) and while having a tan without the burn that usually precedes it has been lovely, it also means that I can’t use the still-full bottle of tinted moisturizer I’ve been utilizing since the Spring without looking like I’m wearing a mask that is three shades lighter than my current skin tone.
That was until I found these bronzing drops from Essence Cosmetics, however. A couple drops of this hydrating oil mixed into my foundation or moisturizer each day evens out my complexion and gives me a healthy, radiant, sun-kissed glow that doesn’t fade until I’m ready to wash my face off for the day! I am obsessed!
Best of all? This bottle – which lasts forever and a day! – is only $5.99!

Speaking of a radiant, sun-kissed glow – I turned to the California-based makeup brand caliray when selecting a replacement palette for the Summertime. This one in particular, the “endless sunset” palette, comes in a beautiful bamboo case and includes a number of highlighters, blushes, and eyeshadows that can be mixed and matched to create truly stunning looks for both casual days at the beach or more formal, fancier occasions.
I have been having a blast playing around with this one throughout the Summer so far, and the shades – which can be used wet or dry – are refillable, so if I start to run low on one of the shimmery hues I use daily, I can just grab a replacement to snap into the case!

I also relied on caliray for a replacement mascara this Summer, and after hearing nothing but good things about their 24-hour wear tubing mascara, fantastically called “come hell or high water” – I snagged a tube without hesitation and have been enjoying long, volumized lashes with no smudging, budging or flaking even in the most hot and humid of New England conditions.
Even if I don’t want to wear makeup during the day, I put some of this on and my eyes immediately pop. It’s incredible!

And while that just about covers it for the new additions to my makeup collection for the Summer season – I did promise a couple of swatches! Bear in mind that my complexion is usually on the fair side, so while the shades may not appear super pigmented on my arm/wrist – they definitely show up more on my face, especially in the sunshine!

If you have any suggestions for brands/products I should check out when it comes time to put together my Fall collection in a few months, drop me a line or leave a comment! We all know how much I love experimenting with new shades and palletes!
And while it may not feel like we have much to celebrate this Independence Day – I’m still wishing you all a wonderful and safe long weekend ahead. Be careful if you’re setting off any fireworks!
I’ll see you all next week!
