I really did over-shop and overpack when I was preparing to head to Italy back in May. I wanted to look stylish, sophisticated, and not at all like a typical tourist even though I very much was one. While nearly everything I brought got plenty and multiple wears throughout my trip – there was one dress in particular that I knew would be a bigger hit back home than it was when I was abroad – specifically since it was a lot sportier than anything else I’d packed in my suitcase.
This sleeveless, black and white, pleated and zipped front tennis dress from A New Day is stretchy, breathable, flattering, but most of all – extremely comfortable – and has been one of my favorite pieces to wear both at work or when I’m out with friends. In Italy, I dressed it up with some black and white heels and minimal jewelry, but I’m usually wearing this one with sneakers or slide sandals on most occasions when I have it on! It’s a much more casual dress than it is a fancy one!
This was my ensemble of choice last month when Dan and I had traveled to Salem to celebrate Summer-Ween. Despite the heat and humidity that day, I stayed cool and dry in this fabric (even if my curls weren’t as cooperative), and was able to sit down for dinner, participate in a late night ghost tour, and do some window shopping without having to fan myself too much.

And as fun as the zipper in the front can be when it comes to being daring, I usually keep it zipped up to the top most of the time. I personally think it looks better that way – although I’m sure my boyfriend Troy would disagree!
