While January will probably hold the title for “Longest Month Ever” each and every year since we’re all coming out of our post-holiday/New Years hazes and are trying to brave what’s left of Winter, I feel like June – and specifically June of 2025 – is a close second. This month felt like it went on for ages – not that I’m complaining! I had an absolute blast these past few weeks and am more than a little sad it’s coming to an end!
I have a lot of things planned in July that I’m excited for, but I wanted to give June the attention and gratitude it deserves. It was a month spent with friends, visiting new places (and longtime favorites), reflecting on this years’ personal progress to date, eating great food and marveling at beautiful scenery. It was the perfect beginning to the 2025 Summer season – and I want to recap all of it.
I had kicked off the month with a bit of a “Foodie Tour” around New England, with stops at some of my favorite places in New Hampshire and what has quickly become one of my new favorite places for oysters just down the road in Amherst (and whose exterior I had unintentionally matched during my first visit.) I’m a big seafood fan, and it never truly feels like Summer until I’m indulging in some – preferably by the ocean!
This month saw me take a look back at this year so far and check in on the resolutions I’d made for myself at the end of 2024. While there is always work to be done and things to reach towards, I’m pleased that I’ve continued to make great strides this year in achieving the goals I wanted to accomplish before the end of 2025. I’m optimistic, hopeful, but more than anything – determined.
But back to the seafood real quick. I shared one of my mom and I’s favorite places to splurge on scallops and clam strips during the Summer, survived a relentless “June Gloom” forecast pretty much every Saturday, and finally got my first lobster roll of the season (and then some!) All of this, of course, was in-between whipping up my own Summer-inspired recipes and sharing more staples from my wardrobe throughout the month.
Finally, I rounded out June with a Summer-Ween extravaganza in Salem, Massachusetts – first with a stop at Blackcraft for a refreshing lemonade-tea and some shopping, and then with a beautiful day spent around town (including a guided ghost tour!)
But there were plenty of other stops along the way this month that I didn’t have a chance to dedicate specific posts to here on ‘Coffee & Chiffon‘ – like celebrating the 50th Anniversary of ‘Jaws’ with an epic rewatch with friends, trying the famous “Fluffy Seagull” latte at Lighthouse Keeper’s Pantry in Yarmouth Port, catching Hozier perform at Fenway Park during our recent, record-setting heatwave (and within a thankfully air-conditioned VIP box where I met a bunch of lovely friends/family of the band and crew!) and most recently savoring the sun rise over the hydrangeas and enjoying an iced coffee at Watch Hill Beach in Rhode Island.
There is nothing that beats an East Coast Summer!
And now, with July pretty much here – it’s time to look ahead! I’ve got a little bit more New England-based travel planned for the upcoming Fourth of July Weekend, and I’m hoping to scratch a couple of long overdue “To-Do” things off of my list this coming month – like revisiting one of my favorite travel destinations as a kid up in Glen, New Hampshire, setting off on a whale watch to try and snap some spectacular photos, preparing more cookout-friendly favorite recipes and showing off some additional Summertime closet picks!
I’m excited for more adventures, more seafood, and more time with friends and family over the next few weeks.
So here is a tip of my wide-brimmed straw hat to June 2025. It was a spectacular month in every way – and I hope that July can keep up with it!
