As far as I’m concerned, the unofficial beginning of Summer was over the course of Memorial Day Weekend. However, given the fact that the weather throughout this past Memorial Day Weekend was anything but Summer-esque – I’ve decided that June 1st was an appropriate “do-over” date since it was mostly warm and sunny, save for a couple of brief drizzles and a few darkened clouds that punctuated an otherwise perfect day. That being said – Happy Summer, everyone! We made it again!
I have a few things I like to do to commemorate each and every Summer. The first lobster roll of the season. The first time splashing in the Atlantic for the year. The first bonfire or outdoor grilling session with my friends where we don’t have to wear heavy Winter coats – and, of course – the first oyster-fest I get to participate in.
And I’m happy to report I commemorated that last one just a couple of days ago when Dan and I stopped by the Amherst Oyster Bar for dinner. While the location is pretty casual and no formal-wear is required for entry, I still wanted to look nice since I’d never been before. I opted for my white linen shorts, a white tank top, camel-tone slide sandals and this navy blue sweater vest that ties in the front with two cream-colored, satin bows.
What I did not anticipate, of course – was that I would match both the exterior and the interior of the restaurant perfectly.

This vest can also be worn backwards, with the bows tied from behind – but I like being able to see them should they go a little crooked or come loose. It’s an easier fix that way!
I had actually brought the vest to Italy (along with so many other clothes) but never got around to wearing it other than when I was mixing/matching different pieces while getting ready to go out – so it was nice to be able to actually have it on for an evening.
And given that I’ve got some Coastal adventures lined up with some of my girlfriends this Summer, I’m looking forward to getting some more wear out of this one throughout the season!
