Travel Log…

Greetings from North Carolina, where I’ve been staying with Andrew and the kids in their new home since Saturday morning! While there is just the tiniest bit of snow on the ground here and there, and I still wear a sweater when I go out, it’s a nice change of weather and scenery from the icy, Arctic Tundra that was Massachusetts when I left. It’s been a while since I’ve been down this way and I’d forgotten how lovely it is here!

Although I’m back working remotely today while the kids are in school and Andrew is at work (and I’m doing my best not to disrupt their morning and evening schedules since all they want to do is play while I’m here!) we had so much fun this past weekend. We had celebrated Andrew’s birthday with dinner and ice cream in their neighborhood, bounced around a trampoline park and played dodgeball before Sunday brunch, made forts with blankets and chairs back at the house, and watched a couple of really sweet movies (‘The Wild Robot’ made me cry a little!)

The kids are at some of the most fun ages now. While they still need to have the occasional nap so they don’t sweat the small stuff by the end of a long day (don’t we all, though?) they have incredible senses of humor and comedic timing, their interests expand beyond just cartoons and characters (they love all kinds of music, for example!) and you can have great conversations with them. I have been having a blast hearing about their time at school, the friends they’re making, their hobbies and what they want to be when they grow up. I had said it in my last post, but they have SO much of Kelsey in them.

I’m going to be here for a few more days before I catch a red eye back to Massachusetts a little later on this week, but I’ve got some posts lined up for while I’m traveling. Since we’re approaching the end of February (already?!) I’ll be sharing some of my favorite things from these past few weeks and a look back on the month in its entirety before it’s time to take on March, St. Patrick’s Day, and maybe another trip out to Vegas!

See you all soon!
