“Sunsets and Neon Lights…”

Hello 2025 and Happy New Year to each and every one of you from the outskirts of fabulous Las Vegas! I’ve been enjoying a few days and the New Years Eve/Day holiday here in the desert with my boyfriend Troy, who only just recently relocated to Henderson, Nevada from Southern California right before Christmastime. While he’s still getting familiarized with the ever-growing and flourishing neighborhoods (they just keep building things!), I wouldn’t consider myself a stranger to it – since my best friend Kelsey lived here for quite some time before her passing back in 2020. Henderson will always have such a special place in my heart for that very reason. Being here reminds me of the time she and I shared together whenever I’d come out this way.

I got into town on Sunday night and was greeted at the airport by Troy, who had gifts and mint chocolate chip ice cream in hand as he met me in the baggage claim before whisking me off to In-N-Out for an obligatory burger, fries, and Neapolitan milkshake – and then finally bringing me home to check out his new digs – and his apartment is absolutely gorgeous! It didn’t take me long at all to settle in like I live here myself, and I’ve already made good use of the gym and ample amenities as part of my 2025 resolutions I set for myself.

I had made an agreement with my job to work remotely the first couple of days I was here (East Coast hours from the West Coast – which required me to get up oh-so-early!) with the trade-off being that I would have New Years Day and the remainder of the week off before I return home this coming Sunday night and get back to my usual schedule next week. The first couple of days flew by and were very quiet, though – so I didn’t mind too much!

On New Year’s Eve, after putting up an away message, closing my laptop for the last time in 2024, and doing some early afternoon food shopping since we’d had a quiet night in together planned, Troy and I got dressed to the nines to pop by the Vegas Strip for just a little while before it started getting too crowded – grabbing a couple of cocktails at The Chandelier bar in our beloved Cosmopolitan and checking out the final hours of the holiday display within the Conservatory at the Bellagio. It was absolutely breathtaking (it always is!) and we spent a good amount of time snapping photos and posing for selfies.

A local photographer, Isaac (I believe that was his first name!) was kind enough to take a couple of photos of Troy and I together in front of some of the decorations – and they came out beautiful! Isaac, should you ever see this – thank you so much! It was a pleasure meeting you!

We managed to beat traffic shortly afterwards and made it back to Henderson with enough time for Troy to pop a bottle of champagne and prepare a delicious dinner-by-candlelight for the two of us to enjoy as we watched the ball drop in NYC on TV and then awaited 2025 to eventually reach us in the desert while checking in and sending warm New Years wishes to our friends and family back East. When 2025 did finally arrive, we headed out to Troy’s balcony where we had an unobstructed view of the fireworks displays on top of the various casinos on the Strip. It was pure magic!

On New Year’s Day, after I got up, forced myself to the gym and had breakfast, we again headed out on the town with no real plan in mind – or so I thought. Unbeknownst to me, Troy had arranged for us to see ‘Nosferatu’ at Sam’s Town. It was his first time visiting the classic casino, so after the movie (which was even more phenomenal than I expected!) I made sure to give him the grand tour – including taking him to the music hall/venue and the atrium so he could see the animatronics – some of which were still wearing Santa hats!

The sun was setting as we made our way back home at the end of the day, which gave us a spectacular purple and pink view and seemed like a fitting way to close out the first day of the brand new year. It was pretty perfect!

We’ve got a few more things plans for this coming weekend before I head back to Massachusetts – so be prepared for a lot of pictures next week once my blogging schedule returns to normal. I have so much to write about in the days/weeks ahead, and I couldn’t be more excited for it!

See you soon!
