It’s been hard to plan consistent outfits over the past week or so, since temperatures have varied between “warmer than expected” to “much colder than anticipated” – often over the course of just a couple of hours – which means I’m usually grabbing heavier jackets or sweaters to wear over long dresses when I’m at work or out on the town, only to end up turning the air conditioning on shortly afterwards when I start breaking into a sweat.
It’s been crazy, and in some instances, the sporadic shifts in climate and drier conditions have resulted in brush fires spreading throughout my part of the state!
I digress. Last weekend, before Troy got into town and while Dan and I were heading out to New Salem to celebrate this year’s “Cider Days” festivities around Franklin County – it was cloudy, brisk, and rain was anticipated in the day’s forecast. I opted to wear this black, knee-length, sleeveless and high-neck sweater dress, which made an appearance in my last OOTD post, with my gray slouchy ankle boots and a black shawl to pull over my shoulders whenever the wind got to be a little too chilly while I was enjoying our cider flight and the spectacular view overlooking the nearby orchards.

This dress has become one of my default Fall/Winter/special occasions dresses over the past couple of years, not just because the fabric is a thick enough to keep me warmer this time of year – but also because the cut and fit are classic – making it appropriate for fancier events and for casual get-togethers alike. I’ve worn this with one with high heels, flats, and my knee-high boots, along with different types of jewelry – and it’s always looked put together and chic.
And the black shawl has been in my wardrobe for many, many years since it’s also classic for so many different purposes!
Oh, and that pickup truck in the photos? Also classic, of course. I want one!
