It seems fitting that I would be spending the last few days of August and what I consider to be the end of Summer 2024 in one of the hottest cities and climates imaginable, with temperatures reaching triple digits every single day. That’s right, y’all – your girl is back in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada! And while I am presently writing this from the comforts of an air conditioned hotel suite and with a chilled drink just within reach, I’ve been getting plenty of sun here otherwise!
While I’ll be kicking off September and the unofficial start to the Fall season in a much cooler climate among the Redwood Forest this coming weekend and into next week, I wanted to take some time to pay my respects to this past month, including all of the adventures that have led me to my current vacation! This Summer has been so fun and so wild at times, and August sort of felt like the grand finale of it all.
I had started August by sharing one of my favorite nostalgic and retro-inspired roadside stops for ice cream back home in the Pioneer Valley before I had to get ready to “throw down” at my friend Phill’s annual Summer Slam party, where for the first time since I had started going to his events many years ago, I won the coveted Snack-Down Championship belt (that I will have to defend in January!)
I also shared my usual roundup of seasonal skin & hair care products earlier this month, along with fun and easy Summertime recipes for things like blueberry cornbread and shrimp boil skewers. As much as I adore recipes that are perfect for beach days and cookouts, I am so excited to start getting into apple and pumpkin-infused everything in the coming weeks ahead.
August saw me going on a boating adventure up in Maine with my girlfriends and enjoying a beautiful and delicious lunch at one of my favorite restaurants in New Hampshire with my family – all within the same weekend! – and is something I hope I get to do again next Summer, as well!
I also gave a long-overdue and very thorough update on all of my “Local Loves” installments this past month, where I noted locations that had closed, or moved, or remained exactly where and how they were when I first wrote about them! Feel free to check it out if you missed it.
And finally, before I hopped on a plane to the West Coast, I explored beautiful and picturesque Chester, Connecticut and participated in one of my favorite photo shoots of all-time where I showed off the cutest swimsuit I own!
And now here we are, with the weekend and September 1st just a couple of days away! I have a lot of things planned for the weeks, months and Fall season ahead – including full recaps of my time in both Las Vegas and California lined up for next week while I’m still on the road, but I’ve also got some Autumnal events/locations I’m preparing to share, some cooler weather fashion and accessories to showcase, and plenty of tasty things to whip up as we begin easing into Cozy Season!
But I do just want to give a final nod and a salute to August, because it really was a whirlwind of great memories made with some of the nearest and dearest people in my life – and I couldn’t ask for anything more than that to close out my Summer. I’m truly so grateful.
