I am never more grateful for my meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail than I am when I’m about to embark on an extended trip, especially one that is taking me to the opposite coast for a couple of weeks. This coming Monday, I’ll be boarding a very early flight to head back to Southern California for some much-needed rest, relaxation, time with loved ones, live music, great food and getting in touch with nature – just in time to say a fond farewell to August and the Summertime, ring in September and welcome in the unofficial beginning of my favorite season!
And while I’ll be landing in Santa Ana after some time zone changes, the next couple of weeks will also see me enjoying more of beautiful Orange County, driving through the desert for a few planned days in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada (where I’ll be checking out The Killers’ current residency at Caesar’s Palace!) and even heading up to Redwood National Forest in Northern California for the very first time! I’m so excited for all of it that I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve – anxiously counting down the days, hours and minutes until I’m on my way!
Of course, I’ve also been making sure everything is taken care of here at home, first. While I have the bulk of my packing planned in advance (including daily outfits, shoes, swimsuits, toiletries, etc.,) and simply need to arrange it in my suitcase and carry-on before triple-checking that I have everything I need – I’m still finalizing some things at work before I throw on that “DO NOT DISTURB” away message for any incoming e-mails/voicemails, getting those last minute hair and nail appointments done so I look and feel my best, and am doing my usual deep-clean of my car and apartment…
… And while I know I won’t be occupying those spaces for a while, there’s just something about coming home to a spotless living area that really makes me feel so much more relaxed after a long flight! It’s just one less thing I have to do when it comes time to unpack everything and ease back into my every day schedule again!
I’ll still be updating ‘Coffee & Chiffon‘ regularly while on the road, with some photos of a really fun poolside photoshoot I recently did in Stockbridge, along with a glimpse at my favorite things/products from this past month and a loving look back at August in its entirety.
And once my adventures are underway, I’ll be sharing photos and recaps – both on here and over on MY INSTAGRAM, too – for anyone who wants to follow along!
