OOTD: Sorbet Skirt

When Dan, recently home from an extended stay in Northern Maine and I, recently healed up from surgery – decided we wanted to take a mid-week beach day a few days ago to catch up (and catch some waves) – I knew I didn’t need to throw on anything more complicated than a swimsuit and a coverup since the afternoon would most certainly involve drinks, beautiful photos and diving into the Atlantic.

I opted for a black one-piece (how can you go wrong?) and this striped, multi-colored midi cotton skirt from Skies are Blue that reminds me of shades of sorbet at my local ice cream shop. I’ve worn this to work when I’ve made the commute into my office a couple of times this Summer so far – but it just feels so much nicer and “right” to wear it for a road trip along the Coast. It’s just too pretty to be perpetual work-wear!

We made our usual stops at Kooks for tacos and Tiki drinks (as is tradition!) before heading to high tide along North Hampton Beach. An impending severe thunderstorm that was scheduled to make it’s way to the area that evening paved the way for a spectacular sunset – and the sky matched my skirt as we were jumping into the water, climbing along rocks, and watching nearby surfers take in the view, too.

And even though the skirt got wet (I brought a change of clothes so the car ride home wouldn’t be miserable!) it’s easy to wash and air dry so it’s as good as new by the time I want to wear it again next week.

It was such a good day, and I’ll have more photos to share from it next week (along with some snapshots from some weekend plans I’m excited for.) It’s looking like a good couple days weather-wise, which is a much-needed break from the recent storms and tornado warnings we’ve had here in the Northeast!
