A Few of My Favorite Things: April 2024

My goodness, April – where does the time go? It feels like the month only just started, and now here I am already preparing to share some of my favorite finds and products from these past few weeks while simultaneously drafting my full monthly recap post for next Monday- and cleaning up my calendar for a ton of things I have planned for May (music festival season is upon us, baby!)

But I don’t want to jump too far ahead of myself. We still have a few more days left of the month, after all, and respects must be paid – first by diving into the April 2024 roundup of my “Favorite Things.” This installment is a small one, but mighty and beloved nonetheless. With some great beauty finds, some spiritual sarcasm, and a horror movie I had to watch more than once!

As always, I’ll kick things off with the items I could snap photos of before I get into the miscellaneous odds and ends and open the floor for discussion/recommendations.

Let’s get into it!

Dew of the Gods is quickly becoming one of my favorite vegan and inclusive brands- with a wide arrange of incredible products that give noticeable results. I continue to use their retinol moisturizer I last shared in my Winter Skincare/Hair Care post in February religiously, and this month I started getting into their hair products, too.

This Amalfi Gold Hair Serum has been reigning supreme in my styling routine as of late since it softens my curls, gives them incredible shine, and protects them on sunny days or when I’m using any kind of heating tools on the mornings when I have a little extra time to get ready. A few drops go a long way- so this bottle has lasted me just fine throughout the month.

Also? It smells amazing.

In keeping with beauty products for the month, if you’re looking for a dupe for the famous LANEIGE lip masks that will give you the same great results for a fraction of the price, then you have to head over to Trader Joe’s to grab their overnight vanilla lip mask for $5.99.

My lips often take a beating this time of year, between the changing temperatures outside and being in and out of places that alternate between cranking their heat or having the air conditioning on full-blast. My mouth gets dry so easily, but this mask has been a lifesaver this month. After gently exfoliating- I apply a thick layer of this sweetly scented, non-sticky formula morning and night (and sometimes in the afternoons, too!) and it’s been keeping chapping and cracking at bay. My lips are non-stop smooth and soft- which is perfect since I’m spending more and more time outdoors!

Finally, I couldn’t resist picking up this foul-mouthed but brutally to-the-point oracle card set from Rebel Deck while I was visiting The Sparkle Barn in Vermont at the end of March, and it’s been a great morning ritual ever since. Each morning, or when I’m in need of a little extra guidance- I pull a card to set my mantra for the day- and they’re always hilarious and, for the most part, pretty spot-on!

Rebel Deck sells expansion packs, couples’ versions of the cards, games, etc. and I’m thinking these would make a perfect gift for my more spiritually-guided friends and loved ones once the holidays start rolling back around!

And while that completes the products/purchases portion of this month’s “Favorite Things” summary- I’ve got some other stuff to talk about, too!

– MUSIC/MOVIES/TELEVISION –

‘Late Night with the Devil’ – Considering I co-host a podcast about horror movies, it should come as no surprise that I love them, and I’d been really excited to see this possession/found-footage flick after seeing some buzz about it earlier this year. It did not disappoint- with plenty of scares and great performances- especially from David Dastmalchian. I ended up watching it a second time since I enjoyed the premise so much, and I highly recommend it if you don’t mind horror movies well before we reach Spooky Season!

______________

And that’s it for my April 2024 favorites! A short but sweet list this time around- and leaving plenty of room for the things I discover and buy once May rolls around.

Of course, feel free to share your own favorites from this past month or drop some recommendations in the comments. I love reading them and checking new things out!

See you all next week!
