OOTD: The Denim Reset

When it’s cold out, I just want to be comfortable, and when it’s cold out and its a weekend – I just want to be comfortable and keep it casual. So many of my Winter weekdays are spent in turtleneck sweaters, woolen sets, and all of the layers because of my job and location here in the Northeast, so staying warm while simultaneously being able to move and breathe without feeling hot or itchy on my days off helps me maintain my sanity for sure.

I’ve been obsessed with this lightweight, loose-fitting denim button-up this season- since it protects me from any chills in the air while being super soft, billowy and easy to dress up or down depending on the occasion. For example, I can tie the bottom into a more form-fitting blouse for when I want to look more put together – or leave it as-is for more laid-back plans – which is exactly what I did this past weekend while Dan and I were hanging around the warm corridors of MASS MoCA.

I usually wear this one with dark leggings or tights, since denim-on-denim might be a little much. If I have to wear jeans with this one, however – I tend to go a few shades darker to break up the colors and prevent myself from looking as if I’m wearing a denim jumpsuit like I’m in an early 2000s music video (I say this having owned one around that time that I wore constantly!)

This top is going to be a favorite throughout the Spring, too, I’m sure – where I’ll be able to start pairing it with skirts, different types of sneakers/flats and accessorizing a little more than my usual bracelets and bangles. It’s so soft and comfortable that I’ll definitely find ways to keep it in my wardrobe rotation for as long as possible!
