Touchdowns and Truffle Fries…

This week marks a major milestone in my life. Well, not for just my life – but for someone I love so much and whom I hold near and dear to my heart. After nearly five years, an ongoing and repeatedly delayed lawsuit my boyfriend, Troy, has been embroiled in finally goes in front of a jury for what will be the last leg of an emotionally grueling and exhausting journey we have both been on together.

It’s something I don’t talk about often, if at all, for obvious legal reasons – but there’s a sense of hope and optimism (and fear, too- which I’m sure is normal given the circumstances!) going into these next couple of weeks and it’s something I hope to write about more in-depth someday once there is a definitive conclusion to it all and I am able to speak more freely about what transpired so many years ago and long before the pandemic started.

I just know that he could use all the good thoughts, vibes and well-wishes right now if anyone can spare some! I’d really appreciate it!

That didn’t stop me from trying to calm his nerves and putting together a little Super Bowl party for the two of us, of course. When we weren’t eating way more chicken wings than either one of us could reasonably handle yesterday afternoon before kickoff – we had visited one of our favorite restaurants in the Berkshires, 51 Park, on Saturday in-between running some errands and visiting his family to check our their tailgating menu and indulge in a couple of Winter cocktails. Everything was, as always, delicious!

Although we were rooting for a 49ers victory last night, it was still a super intense, fun game to watch – and I’m glad we got to have some time to cheer and jump around my apartment before it was time to get back to business this morning.

And even though the weather this past weekend was absolutely gorgeous (“False Spring” is upon us!) we’re scheduled to get a pretty big Nor’easter this week. I don’t think Troy has seen significant snowfall since he moved to California at the beginning of 2020 – so I’m sure it’ll be a nice blast from the past for him to experience it again!

A little later on this week I’ll have a belated Super Bowl recipe to share (it’s good any time of year, really!) and another showcase of a local spot I’m head over heels in love with. But for now, I’m getting caught up at work for the week and keeping my fingers crossed for a good outcome soon!
