OOTD: Champagne & Sequins…

I love a lot of things about New Years. The idea of a clean slate, the optimism and hope so many of us share that the year ahead will be better than the last, the parties, the snacks/meals and champagne- but most of all I love everything and anything glittery and sparkly! I’m a sucker for anything with sequins, rhinestones and well-placed gems, and you can usually find me sporting the novelty glasses molded into the shape of the numbers of the approaching year or a fun dress that makes me look like a disco ball when the light hits it just right.

But given that this past New Year’s Eve was pretty low-key, I dressed more for warmth and comfort than I did for razzle dazzle while I was out and about on the streets of Boston. New Year’s Day, however, was a different story…

Having lunch plans with Dan after I returned to the Pioneer Valley on the afternoon of the first of the year, I opted to mix warmth, comfort and sparkle with this gold sequin-embellished sweater from Nine West. The fabric is so soft, and the sequins are sewn onto the sweater with care and precision- so they weren’t getting snagged or falling off over the course of my day.

I kept the rest of my outfit simple, with jeans and brown, knee-high boots- and given just how many sequins are on the front of this sweater- I decided not to wear any jewelry this time around so that I wouldn’t be too over-the-top for day in Northampton.

I have a birthday coming up soon, and I feel like this one may be the perfect top to wear depending on how my plans align! Birthdays are always a perfect occasion for sparkle and shine, of course!
