A Few of My Favorite Things: December 2023

Merry (Almost) Christmas, everyone! As we prepare to head into the long holiday weekend, and that weird, limbo-like space of time between Christmas and New Years, and before I share my annual year-end “Wrap-Up” posts next week- I wanted to look back on some of my favorite items/products, purchases and gifts from this past month!

I will admit, it’s a short list this month- what with all the Christmas-related craziness and recent family tragedy I’ve been navigating through as of late- but it doesn’t make what’s included any less lovely! I’m talking about festive accessories, nail care and compelling movies/television that I took the time to enjoy in-between marathoning my usual favorite holiday movies these past few weeks!

As always, the things that could be photographed will be shared first, followed by the miscellaneous bits- so let’s get right into it and take a look at the last “Favorite Things” compilation from 2023!

First things first, if you’ve seen or run into me at all over this past month, there’s a pretty good chance I was wearing this cozy and oversized knitted headband from COACH at the time! I am in love with this one, since it compliments everything in my wardrobe from casual wear, my office attire, and all the way to glitzy, holiday glamour. Also, it looks pretty cool against my red hair- but maybe I’m a little biased there!

I like to cover my ears with this one on particularly cold days since it does a great job at keeping them warm (and stopping them from turning red in the cold- which tends to happen this time of year!)

Another thing I wore almost constantly this past month were these two nail shades from Londontown (in their “Frosted Berries” duo.) Made with clean, vegan ingredients and without harmful chemicals, the red shade is a lovely and festive cranberry red- while the white is a iridescent and icy shade that can be worn by itself or over the red for a cool, enhanced effect.

This formula is long-lasting and requires minimal to no touch-ups throughout wear and tear! Although I only recently switched up my current manicure to a festive, glittery green- I wore this combo for most of December and got so many compliments on it at work, while out holiday shopping, etc. I’ll definitely be revisiting it after the New Year!

And finally, we all know I love everything sparkly and shiny- so I have been obsessed with this over-the-top glitzy clutch from Amber Sceats. This one comes equipped with a stainless steel chain to make carrying it around much easier when your hands are full, but lately I’ve been embracing just packing the essentials in it and carrying it around in the palm of my hand (it really brings out that manicure I was talking about!)

This is my go-to bag leading up to the New Year, and given that my birthday is in January, too- I may just keep it out a little bit longer to ensure my day is a little extra sparkly, too!

That may be it for the things I could snap photos of this month, but a couple of other things made the list, too!

– Music/Movies/Television –

‘May December’ – I’m old enough to remember the Mary Kay Letourneau scandal as it unfolded (although I was too young at the time to understand the specifics,) but ‘May December’, loosely based off of the events and their aftermath, does a really good job at depicting a mastermind predator and the people who romanticized or profited off of their behavior. Everyone in this movie shines- especially Charles Melton- and although it’s been called a “dark comedy,” I’d say it’s more of a drama and can be super uncomfortable to watch at times.

Either way- I highly recommend it. It’s available on Netflix right now.

The Killers – ‘Rebel Diamonds’ – Although this album is technically a greatest hits compilation (with a new song added in!) highlighting twenty songs over twenty years, it’s the stories behind the songs that I’ve been loving hearing about. Leading up to the album’s release earlier this month, the band were dropping daily social media posts where they discussed the songwriting process, inspirations, what each song means to them, etc. It was a really fun countdown- and it’s always so good to revisit the classics!

And there we have it! Another collection of favorite things to close out another very wild year. I’m looking forward to seeing what will be included in the first collection of 2024 when we get to the end of January!

But before we jump that far ahead- I hope that everyone celebrating Christmas has a wonderful, safe and stress-free one! I’ll be back after the holiday to wrap up 2023!
