When preparing to attend this past weekend’s Victorian Stroll in Troy, New York with Dan and his parents, and after looking through my closet and storage, I realized I don’t actually own any Victorian-era-inspired pieces (any corsets I possess are not exactly Winter wear!) and so I opted for the next best thing- something that could be considered chic and dressy- but would also keep me warm given that it was pouring out all day and we are into the early days of December.
This woolen houndstooth two-piece skirt and bolero jacket set was something I was gifted by my parents ages ago, back when I started working at my very first law firm- and it still fits just fine! It’s warm, cozy and comfortable- and paired well with black, fleece-lined tights and a black turtleneck.
And although I had been wanting to wear some suede booties out and about this past weekend, I stuck with my knee-high and rain-proof riding boots, instead. I was determined to stay warm and dry!

Initially I was unsure if this outfit would go over well given the theme of the event- but I got so many compliments from people during the course of the afternoon that I will never second-guess myself again. I was blushing throughout most of the day, and I’m looking forward to wearing this one again soon!
