With Thanksgiving (and many Friendsgivings!) fast approaching, maybe even a little faster than I’m ready for, I knew I wanted to contribute something that was not only delicious for everyone- but also wouldn’t take a whole day to prepare or cost a fortune for the ingredients. Time and money are extra important this time of year, after all!
Luckily, I came across this super quick, very easy-to-make and absolutely delicious appetizer recipe while laying on my couch and scrolling social media a few nights ago. Combining melty cheese, tangy cranberry and flaky pastry on one baking sheet for a dish that can serve a whole lot of people at once? Yes please!
And for anyone with a nut allergy- you can skip out on the walnuts and this one will still taste just as incredible!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
8 SERVINGS:
- One 8-12 ounce wheel of brie cheese
- One can of whole berry (or jellied) cranberry sauce
- One sheet of frozen puff pastry, thawed
- ⅔ cup of chopped walnuts
- Zest of one orange
- 1 egg, beaten
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
1. Preheat the oven to 400° F.
2. Lay the puff pastry flat on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place the brie in the center of the pastry and remove the rind from the top of the brie. Spread a generous portion of the cranberry sauce over top and along the sides of the brie and then sprinkle over the walnuts and orange zest.
3. Fold the corners of the pastry over the brie. Brush the pastry with the beaten egg until covered evenly, and bake for approximately 40 minutes or until the pastry is a deep, golden brown.
4. Serve with bread, crackers, chips, etc. and enjoy!

I love anything with cranberry and everything with cheese- so this recipe is a hit with me and my my friends/family. I recently did a trial run of this dish, and served this one with club crackers and set out small spoons to make digging into the pastry a little easier- so cleanup afterwards was a breeze, too!
I’m excited to both try and to share more festive and holiday-inspired recipes over the next few weeks as we start to get into more Christmastime celebrations and events. What better way to get started than with this appetizer, though!
