There’s a lot of things I’ve grown to absolutely adore in the nearly twenty years I’ve been traveling to San Diego. The friends and extended family I have there. The scenery. The beaches. The music venues (and music scene, of course!) The great places to eat and drink- plenty of which I’ve written about on ‘Coffee & Chiffon’ since it’s launch!
So when I’m introduced to a new place that, right away, impresses and entertains me with its great service, cute atmosphere and most importantly- delicious menu- I’m always excited to share it with anyone else who may be traveling that way in the near or distant future.
That was the case when I visited the S3 Coffee Bar for the first time last week. Tucked away on Mission Gorge Road. this café/eatery is a hidden gem in San Diego and one I’ve stopped by more than once (including a planned stop this week when I return to the area!) since checking them out. With an extensive list of regular and seasonal drinks- both caffeinated and un-caffeinated options- snacks/meals and sweets that are available for dining in or take-out- there’s a little something to satisfy everyone and anyone’s cravings…
… And of course everything tastes amazing!
But what I truly love is their dining room décor, which features a corner that looks like it is fully illustrated from floor to ceiling. I made sure to sit there during my initial stay where I enjoyed a grilled cheese/tomato soup combo and an “Ursula’s Revenge” (a color-changing passion fruit lemonade that was almost too pretty to drink. Almost…)
There’s plenty of places to sit, plug-in and plug away if you’re looking for a change of scenery and a cute location to work for a couple of hours. They also have gifts like candles, stickers, t-shirts and greeting cards available for purchase if you want a fun souvenir for yourself or someone back home.
I’m going to miss popping in this place when I eventually return to the East Coast later on this month- but you best believe I’ll come back the second I touch down in Southern California again!
