Pizzas, Cannoli and Barbenheimer…

Although I’m scheduled to appear for Jury Duty tomorrow morning, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it’ll be cancelled so that I can sleep in a little later than usual because I am completely and utterly wiped. This past weekend has been filled with great food, great movie-going experiences, and some much-needed sunshine!

But it has also left me feeling tired (in a good way!) so potentially having a weekday off from work and from Jury Duty sounds ideal right about now.

On Saturday, I headed up to my beloved Rye, New Hampshire to check out a brand new pizzeria and gelato bar that is owned and operated by the same folks who run Kooks (which has been one of my favorite Summer spots for the past few years.) Pizza Lidos– having opened earlier this season- serves whole pizzas, by-the-slice selections, and various flavors of both gelato and cannoli- all amid décor inspired by the Italian coast.

I’ve been meaning to drop by but just hadn’t been able to find the time before now- and it was worth the wait! Everything was delicious, and being able to indulge in freshly cooked pizza and cannoli under an umbrella, lemon garland and string lights was pure magic. I’ll definitely be back to do a more in-depth dive into their full menu!

And then, of course- Sunday was all about ‘Barbenheimer’. I’ve been so unbelievably excited for both movies and committed to making a full day out of it at my local outdoor shopping center (with a cinema, naturally!) I kicked off my morning with an early screening of ‘Barbie’, which was so fun and clever- but also had real, poignant and honest moments about the womanhood experience and coming to grips with getting older and being imperfect. Myself and so many others in the theater were visibly choked up by the end credits- and I’d say it’s a must-watch for everyone!

After lunch and some window shopping for cute, beachy décor and accessories- it was time to get into an IMAX screening of ‘Oppenheimer,’ which is the movie I think I was most looking forward to because I love a good historical piece and the cast is phenomenal. Again, I wasn’t disappointed- and the film was so devastating and harrowing that by the time it ended the theater was sat in stunned silence well after the lights came back on. It was incredible, and it stays with you long after it’s over. I anticipate it’s going to be nominated for a lot of awards this year and into next year- and rightfully so!

If you haven’t seen both of these films yet- I recommend doing so sooner than later! They each make for an incredible and unique movie-going experience!

And now, with Monday morning here once again- it’s back to work for me- but I’ve got a few more things planned for the blog as we wind down towards the end of the month!

‘Til next time!
