I’m not entirely sure when I decided it was a goal or a “to-do” checklist item for my Summer of 2023- but I decided this would be the year I’d try as many lobster rolls as possible in as many locations as I could find- and believe me when I say there’s no shortage of them in New England! Last week I had shared one of my longtime favorite spots in New Hampshire when it came to chilled lobster salad in a grilled bun.
But what if I want my lobster a little more savory, buttery- and a lot more affordable?
Lifetime/longtime New Englanders and residents of Connecticut may have recognized the backdrop in my recent Outfit-Of-The-Day post, but for those of you who didn’t (or who aren’t from my corner of the country!) it was Lobster Landing in Clinton. Established inside a 100+ year-old fish shack right on the water, with plenty of tables and outdoor dining areas on and around the docks- this place has been celebrated for years as making the best lobster rolls in The Constitution State- and New England overall by some very passionate publications.
Dan and I had dropped by this past weekend during our coastal road trip to try a couple of rolls for ourselves- and we were not disappointed! Not only was the price way more reasonable than some other places we’ve been- but they were huge, overstuffed with buttered lobster, and absolutely delicious!
We also made stops at Ashley’s Ice Cream in Guilford (specifically because of the name- but my Nutella chip cone was wonderful!) and to stroll the nearby Jacob’s Beach as the sun was just starting to set. Guilford is such a quaint, picture-perfect town and I’m looking forward to exploring more of their shops and restaurants soon!
Overall, Dan and I has such a great day out. The weather was perfect, the food was fantastic, and the views were absolutely gorgeous- everything that is perfect about a Summer Sunday in New England!
